Suspended Greek Medical Worker Commits Suicide, Amidst Acquittals, New Calls For Freedom

Suspended Greek Medical Worker Commits Suicide, Amidst Acquittals, New Calls For Freedom

October 31, 2022 By Michael Nevradakis, Ph.D. for “Children’s Health Defense”

A Greek court in Athens on October 19 declared a group of 38 unjabbed medical professionals innocent. These individuals had been suspended from their positions without pay since 2021 as a result of not obtaining the COVID-19 jab.

The workers had been detained overnight after being arrested for "disobedience" and "disrupting traffic" in connection with a protest on July 7 outside the home of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek prime minister.

The suspended medical workers held a freedom rally in Athens on September 24 that featured speeches from renowned microbiologist Dr. Sucharit Bhakdi and German lawyer Dr. Reiner Füellmich, who has established the Corona Investigative Committee to look into "crimes against humanity" committed in the name of combating COVID-19. This acquittal came after that.

The acquittal, nevertheless, also occurred in the wake of a recent suicide by one of the suspended medical professionals, who was struggling to make ends meet without a paycheck.

Greece's health ministry reportedly put all healthcare workers on unpaid leave in April 2022 if they failed to comply with the mandated COVID vaccination of medical staff by the deadline of September 1, 2021 and who did not receive a booster dose by the deadline of March 31, 2022, as reported by The Defender in April 2022.

Many of the estimated 10,000 healthcare workers who first refused jab have organized ongoing protests and rallies seeking for their reinstatement throughout the interim time. Additionally, they disapproved of Greece's COVID-19 limits, which were regarded as the toughest regulations in all of Europe.

On September 24, as part of a rally organized by organizations speaking on behalf of Greece's suspended medical personnel, doctors Reiner Füellmich and Sucharit Bhakdi addressed a sizable gathering in Freedom Square in Athens with a message of liberty and nonviolent protest.

The revelation that one of the suspended medical employees committed suicide in late September cast a cloud over the September rally and the eventual acquittal of the 38 medical personnel who had been charged with crimes.

A dentist from Athens with the initials X.P. committed suicide on September 29th, according to a joint statement that was shared on the World Doctors' Alliance Telegram channel and co-signed by the Greek Medical Freedom Alliance.

As stated in the statement:

“She was a young professional, had just started her own dental office in Athens, but she was forced to shut it down one year ago, when the unscientific and criminal law in Greece came out to ban every unvaccinated for COVID-19 health care professional from any kind of job anywhere in Greece.

“She suffered of immense financial pressure, as she had loans in order to start her practice, while her family was not as a whole supportive to her, as some of them were pushing her to get the vaccine, bullying at her so badly and constantly for not getting it (as systemic media were encouraging people to do against any unvaccinated 1.5 year now).”

After the young dentist's suicide was reported, there was a huge outpouring of sympathy and support as well as resentment and fury over the continued suspension of the unjabbed health workers.
